Tennis Edged by Green Bay

Western Illinois was defeated by Green Bay 7-0 on Friday (Jan. 31) evening.

Box Score GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Western Illinois women's tennis team (0-5) began the Wisconsin road trip being edged by Green Bay (1-2) 7-0 on Friday (Jan. 31) evening.

Lucky Kancherla (No. 3) headed the Leatherneck attack after Green Bay secured the doubles point and won her first set of the spring 6-2. She was later forced to a third set and was just outlasted 10-7. 

A default victory in No. 6 spot gave the Phoenix a 2-0 lead. The Horizon League opponent clinched the match with straight set victories in the No. 5 and 4 flights. 

Laura Ballesteros (No. 1) and Nikhita Simhambhatla (No. 2) continued to play out their matches and dropped 7-5, 6-1, and 6-0, 6-4.

Western Illinois heads to Milwaukee on Sunday (Feb. 2) to conclude the road trip.
