Leathernecks Aim For Homestand Sweep

Pack it Purple | This Saturday, fans are encouraged to wear purple Leatherneck gear and pack Western Hall as the Western Illinois women's basketball team aims to sweep the three-game homestand.

MVP | Most Valuable Professor Night - Women's basketball wants to thank our educators! All teachers will get in free to the game by showing their school ID.

Home Sweep | WIU can sweep its current three-game homestand with a victory over Oral Roberts. The stretch includes a 79-68 over Purdue Fort Wayne and a 82-75 over Denver.

Last Time Out | Six players notched double figures for the Western Illinois women's basketball team (9-9, 3-2) in a gritty 82-75 victory over Denver (7-11, 1-4) on Sunday (Jan. 12). 

Olivia Kaufmann hit a driving layup with 39 seconds left and then grabbed the defensive rebound on the other end to set up for two made free throws and sink the Denver comeback. The senior recorded back-to-back games with a double-double and her fourth of the season.   

Player of the Week | After back-to-back games in double figures, Olivia Kaufmann was named Summit League Player of the Week, the league offices announced Monday (Jan. 13). The award was Kaufmann's first, as well as the first for Western Illinois. The weekend was also highlighted with her acceptance as the 19th member of WIU's 1K point club. 

Crunch the numbers | Nationally, the Purple and Gold rank in the "Top 10" nationally in four statistical categories as a team as of Jan. 14.

Series History vs. Oral Roberts | The Golden Eagles enter Western Hall with the all-time series lead 26-22 and have won the last three outings. Both schools first took to the hardwood against one another on Dec. 1, 1995, in Tulsa, where ORU won 70-52.

Scouting the Golden Eagles | After falling in the first two Summit League games, Oral Roberts bounced back with back-to-back wins over North Dakota (70-62) and North Dakota State (75-52). The Golden Eagles travel to Purdue Fort Wayne Thursday (Jan. 16) before a stop in Western Hall.  

A preseason All-Summit League Second Team selection, Keni Jo Lippe leads the Summit in scoring (18.0 ppg) and is third in the nation with 97 free-throws made.
