MACOMB, Ill. - The Western Illinois (0-6-0) men's soccer team was limited on the offensive side of the ball in a 1-0 loss to the Drake Bulldogs (3-3-0) on Tuesday (Sept. 17).
In the 24th-minute the Bulldogs put together what would be the only goal of the match. After Tim Trilk punched out a shot headed for the lower right corner, Drake used the ensuing corner by Oliver Bihuniak who placed a ball right to the head of Istvan Wihelms for a goal in the upper left corner.Â
Trilk was tested by Drake who fired 16 total shots as the Bulldogs limited WIU to six shots. The senior stopped eight shots en route to moving into seventh all-time for minutes in goals (3326:24). He sits at three saves away from becoming tenth all-time in saves.Â
The Leathernecks best chance came at the 54-minute mark when Paul Kirdorf secured the ball and hit Ryan DeBois in stride, but his shot sailed just over the crossbar high.Â
The Purple and Gold make a quick trip to Kansas City on Saturday (Sept. 21) to battle the Roos for a 2 p.m. kick-off.Â
