Series History vs. NDSU | The Leathernecks own the all-time series 15-10, defeating NDSU 10 out of the last 11 meetings. WIU started a ten-game win streak on Jan. 13, 2013, which ended on Jan. 11, 2019, in Fargo. The first-ever meeting between both schools was in Western Hall on Jan. 12, 2008, and resulted in a 72-67 victory for Western Illinois.

Scouting North Dakota State | The Bison enter the 2019-20 season under new head coach Jory Collins. He spent last season as an assistant coach at Kansas, where he helped recruit the No. 2 class in the Big 12. Before his year at KU, Collins spent 12 years at Emporia State and won the 2010 NCAA Division II national championship. NDSU returns 84 percent of its scoring from last season and dropped its league opener 82-91 against Denver on Sunday (Dec. 29). 

Scouting South Dakota State | Picked to finish second in the preseason poll, the Jackrabbits host Oral Roberts Tuesday (Jan. 2) before the battle against WIU. The back-to-back Summit League champions won two games in the 2019 NCAA tournament over No. 11 Quinnipiac and No. 3 Syracuse, eventually falling to No. 2 Oregon (53-63) in the sweet sixteen. SDSU won its league opener at Omaha 68-51 and sits at 9-6 overall. 

Series History vs. SDSU | The Jackrabbits hold the all-time series 24-2 with winning the last five outings. Western's two victories came on Feb. 15, 2017 (83-77) and in the first-ever meeting 67-60 on Jan. 14, 2008, in Macomb.

Road to 1K | Only five games into her senior season, Kaufmann has totaled a team-leading 230 points en route to chasing down membership into the 1,000 point club. She is 27 points away from becoming the 19th Leatherneck to achieve the mark. She would join three of her former teammates who achieved the honor - Morgan Blumer (1,000), Emily Clemens (1,699), and Taylor Higginbotham (1,806). 

Last Time Out | The Western Illinois women's basketball team began the Summit League journey against the preseason favorite South Dakota on Sunday (Dec. 29) inside Western Hall. Part of four league doubleheaders, the Leathernecks strung together short runs throughout the game, but the Coyotes answered each with a strong second-half in a 65-96 defeat.
