Hall, Smith Named to All-MVFC All-Newcomer Team

Marquis Smith and Justin Hall wrapped their inaugural Leatherneck season with all-newcomer honors.

ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Valley Football Conference announced its all-newcomer team Tuesday (Dec. 3), and Western Illinois saw two Leathernecks recognized in Marquis Smith and Justin Hall.

A day prior, Hall was named an All-MVFC honorable mention alongside teammates Adam Fellner, Zach Glisan, and LaCale London. The Leathernecks also garnered first and second team recognition in Clint Ratkovich and Jared Drake, respectively.

started the first 10 games of the year before suffering a season-ending injury at North Dakota State (Nov. 9) ... recorded at least two pass breakups in four games this season ... tabbed three PBUs in back-to-back games against Montana State and Tennessee Tech ... second in the Valley in passes defended (13) ... finished the season with 41 tackles (29 solo), two fumble recoveries (one FF) and an interception

ranks fifth all-time in school history (single-season) with 660 kick return yards ... currently leading the Valley (19th in the FCS) with 706 combined return returns ... recorded a career-high, Valley-high 158 KR/PR yards at North Dakota State
