No Fly Zone in Western Hall

Western takes Quincy by 31 points in exhibition play.

Box Score MACOMB, Ill. – Western Illinois women's basketball hosted its final exhibition game against Quincy Tuesday (Oct. 29), resulting in an 85-54 victory.  

"I'm really happy with the way our exhibition season wrapped up," said head coach JD Gravina. "I think we got what we wanted to out of this game. We had so many people play well I'm not sure okne stood out. This is definitely one of the deeper teams I've coached." 
 
Annabel Graettinger scored the first basket for Western, and the game teetered back and forth until the Leathernecks pulled away on a three-pointer by Mackenzie Rogers. The home team ended the quarter up, 15-10, and didn't trail again for the rest of the night.
 
Coming off of the bench, Carla Flores immediately made her presence made by embarking on a 7-0 run to aid the Leathernecks in a 39-26 lead at the half.  
 
With 4:52 left in the third quarter, Olivia Kaufman banked in a layup to push her team ahead 47-31, and shortly thereafter Danni Nichols made another to cement Western's 20-point advantage.
 
Three Leathernecks finished the game in double digits, led by Olivia Kaufmann's 14 points. Kyra Washington was another spark off the bench as she went 4-for-4 from beyond the arc for 12 points and Graettinger added 11.
 
Western Illinois will tip off its competitive start to the regular season with a trip to Missouri on Tuesday (Nov. 5).
