The Leathernecks play the Golden Eagles in the 2018 Homecoming game.

MACOMB, Ill. — Western Illinois men's soccer returns home to begin Summit League play against Oral Roberts at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29.

LAST TIME OUT:
The Western Illinois men's soccer team (2-5-2) fell 4-0 against Drake (5-3-1) on Wednesday, Sept. 26.

Tim Trilk batted a deflected ball up in the air for an early save in the ninth minute. Off a corner kick by Cole Poppen in the 15th minute, Leroy Enzugusi headed it into the bottom right corner of the net. Less than a minute later, Steven Enna passed the ball to Antonio Sanchez on a breakaway to draw Trilk out of the goal for a shot into the right corner and a 2-0 Drake lead.

Poppen sent the ball into the box on a free kick and Lucas Bartlett headed it to Enna, who turned to knock the ball into the back of the net in the 19th minute. Christian Junna led a late charge in the first half by firing two wide shots in the 44th minute, but the Leathernecks trailed 3-0 at halftime.

The Bulldogs tacked on another goal in the 69th minute when Enzugusi set up a one on one matchup with Trilk and delivered his second goal of the night. Jonah Dancer had his shot saved by the Drake goalkeeper as Western Illinois looked to get on the board in the 80th minute. The purple and gold outshot Drake 14-13 in the 4-0 loss.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES:
Oral Roberts is currently 5-3-1 overall following a 3-0 home loss to Central Arkansas. A late goal in the 90th minute from Alejandro Pacheco pushed the Leathernecks past the Golden Eagles 1-0 last year to clinch a spot in the Summit League tournament. The loss was in the middle of a six-game losing streak by Oral Roberts to end the 2017 campaign.

Former Golden Eagle soccer standout Ryan Bush is in his sixth season in charge of the Oral Roberts men's program after a stint as the ORU women's soccer head coach. He has amassed a 36-47-14 at the helm of Golden Eagle men's soccer. Sophomore forward Dante Brigida has already scored six goals. Junior forward Junior Chavez is next with four goals and also has four assists.

LOOKING AHEAD:
The Leathernecks take a break from Summit League play to battle Missouri State on the road in non-conference action on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 6 p.m.
