Western Illinois prepares for another non-conference test at home.

MACOMB, Ill. — Western Illinois women's soccer plays host to Louisiana Tech on Friday, Aug. 31 at 5 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT:
The Western Illinois women's soccer team (1-2) dropped its home-opener to UMKC on Sunday (Aug. 26) by a 4-0 decision.

The Kangaroos scored twice in each half with their first goal occurring in the 10th minute. For the Leathernecks, four of their shots traveled on frame and Lauryn Peters was the first to strike with an attempt in the 15th minute.

Ines Palmiero Herrera notched a season-high eight saves in the Leathernecks' home-opener, and the junior from Viladecavalls, Spain, currently manages 17 on the season to tie for third in the Summit League. UMKC's Kelsey Mothershead finished the afternoon with two goals after scoring the second (17:52) and final (51:46) of the match.

SCOUTING THE LADY TECHSTERS:
Louisiana Tech is currently 3-1-0 overall with the lone loss at home against Northwestern State by a score of 3-2. On the way over to Macomb, the Lady Techsters head to Springfield, Mo. to take on Missouri State on Wednesday, Aug. 29.

Kevin Sherry is in his 12th season as the head coach of Lady Techster soccer. Before heading to Louisiana Tech, Sherry was the head coach at Western Illinois for the 2005 and 2006 seasons while compiling a 20-13-4 record including a Mid-Continent Tournament championship game appearance in 2006. The Lady Techsters are led by senior forward Mylene Roy-Ouellet coming off a C-USA Offensive Player of the Week honor. She already has four goals with two assists for a team-leading 10 points.

PRIMEAU'S PREGAME QUOTE: "We face another major test on Friday in Louisiana Tech, a team coming off a 14-win season last year," assistant coach Josee Primeau said. "We have to find a way to bounce back from an overall poor team performance against UMKC. The way in which our team responds to a tough home-opening loss will be a good indication of their character. The girls seem to have the right attitude in training this week so hopefully their preparation will carry over and result in a quality on-field performance Friday."

LOOKING AHEAD:
The Leathernecks are in the middle of a four-game homestand with Milwaukee coming to Macomb next on Friday, Sep. 7 at 5 p.m.
