Date/Tipoff: Nov. 14, 2018 | 7:00 p.m.
Location: Macomb, Ill.

Series History: Wednesday's game will mark Western's first-ever against the Dominican University Stars (Ill.). The Leathernecks are 1-0 in first-time meetings this year after posting an 84-56, home-opening victory over North Park.

Western' Last Outing: Five Leathernecks finished in double-figures, guided by Kobe Webster's game-high 21 points, in the decision over NPU.

Western held the Vikings to single-digits through the first six minutes of the game and cruised to a 40-20 edge at halftime.

Kobe: Kobe Webster currently ranks third in The Summit League in scoring with 22.5 PPG.

He led the Leathernecks in their season-opening weekend with game-highs (24 and 21) at Creighton and against North Park, respectively, while adding a double-double against the Bluejays with a team-high 10 rebounds.

Stats from the season-opening weekend also included 18 rebounds, seven assists, one steal and just one turnover as the Leathernecks' starting point guard.

Fresh Faces: Western's starting five includes a new face in freshman forward Ben Pyle. The newcomer from McPherson, Kan., has started both games this season, accumulating the fourth most minutes on the team (63) with 11.0 points per game. Six of Pyle's seven made field goals have been from beyond the arc.

Big Man on Campus: Last season, 7-footer Brandon Gilbeck was the first Leatherneck to garner the Summit League's Defensive 'Player of the Year' award since Terrell Parks in 2012-13. He is just the third player in school history to earn the accolade.

Gilbeck broke the program's single-season (85) and all-time records (150) for blocks during the 2016-17 season, and currently boasts 187 career swats. He and the 6th pick in the 2018 NBA Draft Mo Bama were the only two players in the country to average at least 10.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.56 blocks and record less than 95 total fouls last season.

The Long Ball: As a team, the Leathernecks have made a 3-pointer in 102 straight contests. The last time the Purple and Gold did not knock down at least one 3-pointer was December 30, 2014, against Anderson.

Scouting the Stars: The Stars (0-1) opened their 2018-19 season on the road with a 76-65 loss at Maranatha Baptist. DU competes in the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference and is coming off a 6-19 season.

Dennis Handy and Marcus Watson are Dominican's top scorers with 15.0 and 12.0 points, respectively. It's a total effort on boards as four have grabbed five rebounds each in their lone game played this season.
