Women's Soccer Plays Host to Denver on Senior Day

The Senior Day festivities will take place after the game on Sunday, Oct. 21.

MACOMB, Ill. — Western Illinois women's soccer plays host to Denver on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 12 p.m. for Senior Day.

LAST TIME OUT: 
The Western Illinois women's soccer team (3-11-1, 0-5-0) suffered a 3-1 loss at Oral Roberts (8-9-0, 3-2-0) on Sunday, Oct. 14.

The Golden Eagles got on the board first in the 24th minute when Sierra Beall passed the ball from  center inside the box to Drishana Pillay for the goal past Ines Palmiero Herrera from six yards out. Pillay struck the back of the net again in the 29th minute to double the advantage to 2-0 off an assist by Chamelle Wiltshire from the right side.
 
Oral Roberts took a 3-0 lead in the 63rd minute on a tipped ball to Beall for a goal from six yards out into the bottom right corner of the net. Western Illinois answered two minutes later when Lauryn Peters sent a pass from center to the left of the box to Jenna Lundgren for her first goal of the season from eight yards out as the deficit was trimmed to 3-1.  
 
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS: 
Denver is currently 9-5-2 overall and 5-1 in Summit League play after a 1-0 win versus North Dakota on Sunday, Oct. 14. The Pioneers defeated the Leathernecks 5-0 in Denver last season.

Jeff Hooker is in his 27th season as the head coach of the Pioneers. Hooker holds a 347-149-46 overall record at the helm. Freshman forward Samantha Feller leads Denver with six goals in 12 matches. Junior midfielder Hannah Adler has scored five goals while contributing five assists.
 
LOOKING AHEAD: 
The Leathernecks finish the regular season with two road matches including a 7 p.m. meeting at Purdue Fort Wayne on Thursday, Oct. 25.
