Leathernecks conclude fall season at Missouri State (Oct. 26-28)

IOWA CITY, Ill – The Western Illinois women's tennis team closed out the ITA Central Regionals on a positive note on Saturday (Oct, 14)

"We had a couple of good wins today," said head coach Mirko Bjelica. "We also lost a few hard fought matches, but all in all this was a tremendous experience for our team."

In day two of the regionals, Ana Bjelica, Mary Bjelica, and Megan Tagaloa all competed in the singles consolation bracket. Ana defeated her opponent from Iowa State 6-2, 6-3. She was then just outlasted in the third set (13-11) in her second match to conclude her tournament run.

Freshman Megan Tagaloa earned her first victory at the regionals in style. After dropping the first set (3-6), she railed back and won two straight sets (6-4, 10-8), bouncing back from a two-set lost earlier in the day. Rounding out the Purple and Gold was Mary Bjelica, who dropped both of her matches today.

The Leathernecks conclude the fall season at the Missouri State Invitational (Oct. 26-28).
