MACOMB, Ill.— Western Illinois women's soccer opens Summit League play on the road at Oral Roberts Friday (Sept. 29) before returning home Sunday (Oct. 1) for a non-league matchup against Illinois State.

LAST TIME OUT:
The women's soccer program fell 2-1 at home to the Drake Bulldogs in a hard-fought, double-overtime match.

Western Illinois (1-8-0) fell behind early to Drake (7-3-1) off a 22nd-minute goal by the Bulldogs' Rebecca Rodgers off an assist. Down 1-0 at the half, the Leathernecks were able to bounce back and get the equalizer off Bianca Romay's third goal of the season when Madeline Edwards found her in-stride for the breakaway in the 52nd minute. The score remained tied at the end of regulation. At the end of the first overtime, Drake was able to find an open shot but the ball went just wide of the net and forced the second overtime. Western Illinois came out shooting in the final overtime off a saved shot by Romay and back-to-back shots by Natalie Nagle. The Leathernecks, however, ended up falling 2-1 in the match after Rogers netted her second goal of the match to seal the win.

Edwards had a team-high four shots, three on net, to go with her assist while Romay's three shots were all on goal. In net, Jennifer Currie finished with a new career-high 11 saves in the match.
