MACOMB, Ill.-
The Western Illinois Volleyball team (5-10) will finish its conference road slate on Sept. 24 against Oral Roberts (4-9). The Leathernecks were not able to capture a victory in their first Summit League matchup, as the Golden Eagles beat Fort Wayne, 3-1.
 
A LOOK AT YOUR LEATHERNECKS:
Western comes into the match after a hard fought match at South Dakota on Sept. 22. Down 2-0, the Leathernecks were able to rally and force a fifth set, but eventually fell to the Coyotes 3-2. Shalyn Greenhaw logged 32 digs in the match, as Mackenzie Steckler led all players with 20 kills, which was a career high for the sophomore. Western looks for its first Summit League victory of the season against the Golden Eagles.
 
AMONG THE TOP:
Steckler, Claire Grove and Jaime Johnson continue to be in 'Top 5' in various categories across the conference. Steckler and Grove are second in the league with Steckler impressive .361 hitting clip and Grove's 252 digs are second in the Summit League as well. Grove also averages 4.27 digs per set, which is fourth in the league. Johnson's 9.19 assists per set are good for fifth.
 
SERIES HISTORY:
Western Illinois and Oral Roberts will square off for the 40th time. The Golden Eagles lead the season 34-5, which the most recent meeting coming in 2016 with Oral Roberts winning 3-0.
 
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES:
The Golden Eagles come in to the match with a 4-9 record and will be competing in their second league match. Outside Hitter Laura Milos touts the most kills in the league with 244 along with the most kills per set with 5.08. Defensively, Oral Roberts is led by Tori Roe, who has recorded 163 digs.
 
UP NEXT:
The Leathernecks come back to Western Hall for homecoming weekend, with a match on Sept. 29 against Omaha. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
