MACOMB, Ill.— Western Illinois women's soccer caps off the six-game road slate at Ball State for a Friday (Sept. 15) matchup at 4 p.m. (CT), followed by the second home match of the season Sunday (Sept. 17) against Chicago State.

STREAK SNAPPED:
Western Illinois was able to net the first goal of the season off the foot of Stacie Wolfgram in the 78th minute during the last road contest at Eastern Illinois (Sept. 10). After trailing 1-0 at the end of the first half, the Leathernecks came out on the offensive after Bianca Romay's shot was saved in the 50th minute. But just two minutes later, a header goal by Eastern Illinois put the Purple and Gold in a two-goal deficit.

The Leathernecks saw a huge opening in the Panthers defense and was almost able to cut the deficit to one in the 69th minute when Natalie Nagle's shot nailed the post. Western was eventually rewarded for the close chance nine minutes later when Wolfgram scored the first goal of the 2017 season for the Leathernecks (78') after she was able to beat the Panther's keeper and score in the upper right-hand corner of the net.

A LOOK AT YOUR LEATHERNECKS:
Western Illinois currently sits at 0-6-0 and averages 9.5 shots per game. The Leathernecks still hold a .544 shots on goal percentage compared to the opponents' combined .388.

The Purple and Gold have 57 total shots this season, as 37 of them have come in the second half of the match. Wolfgram now leads the Leathernecks with two points off her goal, while Nagle has the most shots on goal with six. In goal, Ines Palmiero Herrera has started every match and has totaled 28 saves on the season thus far.

Most recently, the Cardinals dropped a 1-0 contest at IUPUI (Sept. 8).

Amanda Shaw leads Ball State with three points off one goal, one assist and a team-high 17 shots. Evie Stepaniak also has three points off a goal and an assist on six shots. The Cardinals average .57 goals per game and 11.7 shots per game. The Cardnials are led by head coach Craig Roberts, who is in his eighth season at the helm of the Ball State women's soccer program. This will be the second all-time meeting between the Leathernecks and Ball State. The last time the two programs met was Sept. 3, 2000 where Western Illinois fell 2-0 on the road.

SCOUTING CHICAGO STATE:
The Cougars are 1-7-0 overall  and are on a five-game losing streak. The lone win of the season came on the road at Saint Xavier (1-0) on Aug. 25.
