Women’s Soccer Gears Up For Milwaukee

The Leathernecks take on the Panthers for their third straight road contest.

MACOMB, Ill. —  After falling in overtime at SIUE, the Western Illinois women's soccer program looks to bounce back with a road match at Milwaukee. This will be the Leathernecks' third straight road match and will take place Friday (Sept. 1) for a 7 p.m. kick.
 
A LOOK AT YOUR LEATHERNECKS:
Despite looking for their first goal, the Leathernecks have been able to attack the goal offensively, with a 0.667 shot-on-goal percentage. The team holds a 22-of-33 shots versus shots on goal ratio, compared to the opponents, who are 17-of-44 (0.386). The team averages 11.0 shots per game, and has a multitude of players with at least three shots on goal this year.
 
Summit League Preseason 'Player to Watch' Madeline Edwards leads the team in shots (9) and has four shots on goal. Two other Leathernecks also have four shots on goal this season, including: Bridget Schuler, who also has six shots (second-most on the team) and Natalie Nagle (all have been on goal.)
 
Lauryn Peters ranks third on the team with all three of her shots on goal, while Emily Bollman (three shots) and Alexandra Siavelis (two shots) both have a pair of shots on goal. In net, Ines Palmiero Herrera has started all three matches, totaling 2:42.14 minutes and has 11 saves.
 
SCOUTING MILWAUKEE:
Milwaukee currently sits at 3-0-1 this season after tying their first match at Akron (0-0) before going on a three-match win streak. The Panthers have yet to allow a goal this season, with wins over Robert Morris (2-0), Southeast Missouri State (1-0) and Eastern Illinois (1-0). The Sept. 1 meeting against Western Illinois also marks the home opener for the Panthers.
 
Western Illinois trails the all-time series 1-4-0, falling 4-0 on Sept. 1 last season in the home opener. The last time Western defeated the Panthers was on Sept. 16 of 2010, where the Leathernecks won 1-0. Thus far, the duo of Aubry Krahn and Mackenzie Schill lead Milwaukee with four points each. Krahn has a goal with two assists, while Schill has a pair of goals. The team is led by head coach Troy Fabiano, who is in his third season with the program.
 
FOLLOW THE MATCH:
Western Illinois and Milwaukee will air live on ESPN3 and live stats will be available to follow. Following the match at Milwaukee, the Leathernecks will be off until Sept. 8, where they will travel to Lexington, Ky. to take on the University of Kentucky.
