Tennis Loses to Bradley 6-1

Leathernecks host a doubleheader tomorrow in Macomb

PEORIA, Ill. – The Western Illinois tennis team took on Bradley in a Saturday morning matchup (Feb. 18). The Leathernecks were unable to top the Braves, falling by a score of 6-1 to move to 5-6 on the season.

Cary Milanes scored Western's lone point of the day, defeating her opponent 6-3, 6-7, 10-8 in No. 6 singles.

Courtney Lubbers fell 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while Natalia Bravo fell 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2. At No. 3, Maria Bessmertnaya lost 6-0, 6-2 and Anna Daniel Fuentes dropped 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4. Laura Ballesteros was unable to defeat her opponent at the No. 5 spot, falling 6-2, 6-2.

The Leathernecks were unable to secure the doubles point, falling 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 in all three positions, respectively.

The Purple and Gold play host to SIU-E and Illinois-Springfield tomorrow in Macomb. First serves are set for 1 and 4 p.m.
