MACOMB, Ill. — Western Illinois women's basketball plays a pair of games this week inside Western Hall and on the road. The Leathernecks battle Chicago State this Wednesday (Nov. 29.) and Wichita State (Dec. 1).

LAST TIME OUT:
Western Illinois saw four players reach double figures, but couldn't shake the Milwaukee Panthers as the Leathernecks fell 77-67 inside Western Hall (Nov. 26). The Leathernecks were led by the efforts of Emily Clemens (17 points, six assists, six rebounds), Taylor Higginbotham (16 points, six rebound), Morgan Blumer (11 points) and Olivia Braun (10 points, seven rebounds).

ROAD TO 1000:
Senior guard Taylor Higginbotham is currently at 951 career points. Should the preseason Second Team All-Leaguer surpass the mark, she would be the 17th Leatherneck to accomplish that feat, joining current teammate Emily Clemens, who passed the 1000-point plateau last season.

SHARING THE WEALTH:
Western Illinois has three players that rank in the top five in The Summit League for scoring. Clemens ranks second in the league with 16.4 points per contest, while Morgan Blumer (14.9) and Taylor Higginbotham (14.6) rank fourth and fifth, respectively.

THOSE THIEVES!:
In the conference thus far, Western Illinois' Emily Clemens and Michelle Farrow rank first and second in the league in steals per game with 4.1 and 2.3, respectively. Taylor Higginbotham isn't far behind, sitting fourth in the league standings with 2.1 per contest. As a team, Western Illinois' 15.1 steals per game ranks fifth nationally, and their 106 total steals rank second nationally.

SCOUTING CHICAGO STATE:
The Cougars are still seeking their first win of the year, as they sit at 0-6 overall this season. Ines Mata Boix leads the team with 12.8 points and 9.8 rebounds this season. Western Illinois leads the all-time series 35-2, winning the last meeting Nov. 22 of this season 83-45. The win came off the tail end of back-to-back games, as the Leathernecks defeated Illinois 77-67 the night before on the road. In last week's meeting, Emily Clemens became the first-ever Leatherneck to record over 1,000 points, 500 assists and 200 steals.

SCOUTING THE SHOCKERS:
The game at Wichita State will be the 24th meeting between the two teams, as the Shockers hold a 15-8 advantage in the all-time series. The Leathernecks are trying to snap a seven-game skid to the Shockers, with the last win coming on Feb. 1, 1991 (88-77, home). They are currently 1-6 overall with losses to Creighton (66-61), Oklahoma State (91-67), South Dakota (62-48), No. 13 Tennessee (68-56), New Mexico (76-62) and Illinois (68-67). Their lone win of the season is against UC Irving on Nov. 26, when they won 76-53. Prior to facing off against Western, the Shockers take on Missouri State (Nov. 29) at home. Rengie Bessard leads the team with 17.0 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. They are led by head coach Keitha Adams, who is in her first season with the program.
