Western Illinois saw four players reach double figures, but couldn't shake the Panthers as the Leathernecks fell 77-67 inside Western Hall (Nov. 26).

The Leathernecks were led by the efforts of Emily Clemens (17 points, six assists, six rebounds), Taylor Higginbotham (16 points, six rebound), Morgan Blumer (11 points) and Olivia Braun (10 points, seven rebounds).

"That was a hard-fought game and we played well for spurts," said head coach JD Gravina. "We hit a cold streak in our shooting and we let it deflate our energy. We have to find a way to battle a little better when our shots aren't falling."

A back-and-forth first quarter tied the game at 20-20 apiece, and a pair of three-pointers from Higginbotham gave the Leathernecks a 6-point lead with 5:04 to go in the second. Western closed out the first half with a 39-36 lead over the Panthers.

A trio of threes from Higginbotham, Braun and Michelle Farrow gave Western a 10-point lead at the 7:00 mark in the third, and the lead eventually built to 13 with 5:20 to go in the quarter.

Milwaukee eventually went on a run to pull within two entering the fourth. From there, Milwaukee outscored the Leathernecks 18-6 in the final quarter to pull away with the 10-point win.

Jenny Lindner led the Panthers with a double-double of 34 points and 10 boards, followed by Steph Kostowicz with 16 points and Reit with 10.

Western Illinois looks to bounce back with another home contest this Wednesday (Nov. 29) with a matchup inside Western Hall against Chicago State. The Leathernecks defeated the Cougars 83-45 in the previous meeting on Nov. 22. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
