Western Illinois women's basketball looks to increase its win streak to three straight with a home game against the Milwaukee Panthers Sunday (Nov. 26) at 4:30 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT:
Back-to-back road games in two days didn't faze the Fighting Leatherneck women's basketball team, as they were able to defeat Chicago State 83-45 Wednesday night (Nov. 22).
 
Emily Clemens finished with 21 points, a career-high eight steals and six assists, while Higginbotham added 14 and Hanneman chipped in 10. Krishna Merriman followed with a new career-high of nine points, with Morgan Blumer also adding nine.
 
MAKING HISTORY:
Last Wednesday against Chicago State, senior point guard Emily Clemens recorded her 500th career assist in the win. The day prior against Illinois (Nov. 21) she eclipsed the 200-steal mark in her career. She is now the first player in Leatherneck history to have over 1,000 points, 500 assists and 200 steals. Clemens enters Sunday's game with 1,221 points, 502 assists and 210 steals for her career. She is currently 40 assists shy of passing Jolene Hanig (1988-91) for the most in program history. Hanig and Clemens are also the only Leathernecks to have over 500 assists in their respective careers.
 
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS:
Milwaukee is 2-2 overall with losses to Drake (77-73) and Houston (74-59) in the Preseason WNIT, which took place New Orleans, La. The Panthers closed out the tournament with a win over CSUN (58-50), followed by a 63-41 win over Loyola at home Nov. 21.
 
In the last meeting, the Panthers handed the Leathernecks one of their seven losses during the 2016-17 season. A trio of Leatherneck players reached double-digit scoring in the Leathernecks' 76-68 road loss at Milwaukee in their second regular season game. Morgan Blumer had a career-high 17 points and 12 rebounds, recording her first career double-double. Emily Clemens scored a team-high 19 points, while Olivia Braun added her career high of 11 points.
 
Milwaukee was led by the duo of Jenny Lindner and Steph Kostowicz. Lindner had a game-high 23 points and eight rebounds, while Kostowicz recorded 20 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.
 
Kostowicz currently leads the team with 18.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, followed by Lindner, who averages 11.3 points and 7.3 rebounds as well. The Panthers lead the all-time series 6-5 over Western Illinois.
 
UP NEXT:

The Leathernecks take on Chicago State in the second meeting of the regular season Nov. 29 at 7 p.m., followed by a road trip at Wichita State Dec. 1 at noon.
