MACOMB, Ill.— Western Illinois women's soccer takes on Fort Wayne Sunday (Oct. 8) at John MacKenzie Alumni Field for a 1 p.m. first kick. Both programs are looking for their first Summit League win of the season.

LAST TIME OUT:
Western Illinois fell short in a close 1-0 contest to the visiting Illinois State Redbirds Sunday (Oct. 1) at John MacKenzie Alumni Field. The Leathernecks (1-10-0) fell behind 1-0 in the 47th minute off a shot from inside the box that went in to the upper left-hand corner of the net. The Leathernecks had multiple scoring attempts, with the closest on being a shot by Bianca Romay that hit the crossbar in the 78th minute for the potential equalizer. Towards the end in the match, the Leathernecks had another scoring opportunity in the 89th minute after Stacie Wolfgram was able to get a breakaway, but her shot was saved.

Alexandra Siavelis had pair of shots with one on goal, while Wolfgram added a shot-on-goal for the Purple and Gold. Bianca Romay also had two shots, with Natalie Nagle and Cristina From recorded one each.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS:
Fort Wayne enters the match 1-10-0 overall with the line win coming over Robert Morris Sept. 17 (4-2). The Mastodons are led by Kendall Quinn's six points on three goals. The duo of Jessica Schoenfeldt and Kallianne Mogler are tied for second on the team with five points.

Western Illinois leads the all-time series 7-4-2, tying the Mastodons to a scoreless match in the last meeting on Oct. 21, 2016. The Leathernecks had four shots within the first 15 minutes but were not able to find the back of the net. After a scoreless first half, Western saw its best chance to strike first after Lilly Butler's shot hit the post in the 79th minute of regulation.

In net, Jennifer Currie recorded a career-high eight saves, passing her previous of six on Oct. 7 at South Dakota State. Individually, Emily Bollman recorded four shots with three on goal, followed by Ashley Kuhlmann with three shots and one on goal. Madeline Edwards also had three shots in the match.

LOOKING AHEAD:
Western Illinois continues its Summit League slate against North Dakota State (Oct. 13) for a 3 p.m. first touch at John MacKenzie Alumni Field. The Leathernecks turn around two days later (Oct. 15) for their fourth-straight home matchup this season, against South Dakota State at 1 p.m.
