MACOMB, Ill.- The Western Illinois volleyball team (6-18) was topped by the Omaha Mavericks (8-14) on Friday night, Oct. 27, in Omaha, Neb. The Leathernecks couldn't find momentum on the road and fell 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-8).

During the first set, Omaha started on a 11-2 run, limiting the Leathernecks on offense. The Purple and Gold put together four straight points, highlighted by two
Shalyn Greenhaw kills and a Greenhaw ace. The Mavericks took the set, 25-13.

Down 8-2 in the second set, Western notched three straight points, which included a
Shiah Sanders' kill, a Greenhaw ace and a Maverick attacking error. The Leathernecks tied up the set at 15 from a Sanders kill that was assisted by
Aleezah Washington. WIU was down 2, 19-17 when Omaha rattled off four points and maintained that momentum to close the set.

Trying to force a fourth set, the Leathernecks fell short. Western has a week off before its final road trip of the season against South Dakota State. The match is slated for Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. in Brookings, S.D.
