MACOMB, Ill. — The Western Illinois women's soccer program heads on the road for a pair of Summit League matchups against South Dakota Friday (Oct. 20) and Denver Sunday (Oct. 22).

LAST TIME OUT:
On a cold and windy day afternoon on the Northwest Field at Western Illinois, the Leathernecks (2-12) fell to South Dakota State (7-4-3), 3-0 on Senior Day. Six Leatherneck women's soccer student-athletes, Jennifer Currie, Michaela Cody, Carly Hoffman, Devan Jones, Mary Street and Alexandra Siavelis, played their final home game at Western Illinois.

The Jackrabbits got things going early in the 10th minute off of the foot of Annie Williams, who was assisted by Nicole Hatcher. The Leathernecks had two opportunities in the 13th minute, as Lauryn Peters and Bianca Romay both had strikes. Peters' shot was blocked by South Dakota State defenders and Romay's shot went high.

South Dakota State put in another early goal in the first half when Tori Poole headed it past Ines Palmiero Herrera to put the Jackrabbits up by two.

Down 2-0 at the break, the Leathernecks regrouped and had another opportunity to put a goal in the back of the net. However, Madeline Edwards headed a ball just above the crossbar. Nicole Hatchers scored in the 64th minute for the Jackrabbits to put them up 3-0.

The Leathernecks could not find any opportunities in the final minutes and fell 3-0. Palmiero Herrera and Jennifer Currie split time in the net as Palmiero Herrera logged 77 minutes and Currie played the last 13.

SCOUTING THE COYOTES:
South Dakota is 3-11-0 overall with a 1-3 mark in league play. The Coyotes are led by the seven points of Taryn LaBree, who has three goals and one assist on the season. Western Illinois won last season's meeting 1-0 of a 48th minute goal by Emily Bollman.

Western Illinois looks to even up the all-time series against the Coyotes, as they trail 3-4-1. The Leathernecks have won two of the last three meetings, and three of the past five.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS:
Denver ranks fourth in The Summit League standings with a 3-2 record and a 7-8-1 overall record. The team is led by the 22 points of Jessie Dancy from 10 goals and two assists, while Hannah Adler has eight goals and four assists for 20 points. The two also rank first and second in the league for goals and points. The Leathernecks are looking to snap a four-match skid and pick up the first series win in program history. In the last meeting, the Pioneers won 1-0 Sept. 30.

LOOKING AHEAD:
Western Illinois closes out the regular season on the road with an Oct. 26 matchup against the Omaha Mavericks. The first kick is scheduled for 7 p.m. (CT).
