MACOMB, Ill.— The Western Illinois Fighting Leatherneck women's soccer program welcomes North Dakota State Friday (Oct. 13) and South Dakota State Sunday (Oct. 15) to Macomb. Friday's match will be played at John MacKenzie Alumni Field, with sunday's Senior Day match to be played at the Northwest Field.

LAST TIME OUT:
After multiple chances as a result of staying on the attack, Western Illinois was able to put one in the back of the net off the foot of Emily Bollman for the 1-0 win Sunday (Oct. 8) over the Fort Wayne Mastodons.

Western Illinois and Fort Wayne were scoreless at the half, but the Leathernecks saw multiple chances in the early going of the second. A Mastodon handball in the box gave Western Illinois a penalty kick in the 55th minute, but Bianca Romay's shot nailed the left post and ricocheted back to her. Romay's second shot flew just high of the crossbar. Shots from Ashley Kuhlmann and Madeline Edwards followed that sequence, but they were saved and just wide of the net, respectively.

Bollman contributed to the Leathernecks' offensive onslaught after her shot was saved, but she was finally rewarded a minute later, as Lauryn Peters found her in stride with a long pass from just over midfield to go up 1-0. Despite being unable to go up another goal with the continued attack, the Leathernecks were able to hold off the Mastodons and improve to 1-1-0 overall in The Summit League.

Bollman led the way with her 56th minute goal off a pair of shots on goal, while Romay, Kuhlmann and Edwards also had two shots on goal. In net, Ines Palmiero Herrera totaled five saves.

SCOUTING THE BISON:
North Dakota State is 5-9-0 overall with a 3-1 mark in Summit League play. The Bison recently came out on top over Omaha with a 3-2 win (Oct. 8). They also have wins over South Dakota (2-0) and Oral Roberts (2-1, 2OT). Their lone defeat came at the hands of Denver (3-0). North Dakota State is led by Malley O'Brien's nine points from four goals and one assist.

Western trails the series 5-7-1, falling 3-0 last season in Fargo, N.D.

SCOUTING THE JACKRABBITS:
South Dakota State holds a 6-4-3 record during the regular season and has a perfect league record of 2-0-0. The Jackrabbits played Omaha for a 1-0 win (Oct. 6) in their last match, and will be coming off a nine-day break prior to facing the Leathernecks. South Dakota State's other league win came in an overtime contest at Denver (2-1) on Sept. 29. Nicole Hatcher paces SDSU with 14 points as a result of five goals and four assists. The Leathernecks are looking to snap a six-game skid to the Jackrabbits, having lost 2-0 on Oct. 7 of last season.

Next Sunday's matchup against the Jackrabbits will also mark Senior Day and the last home match for Jennifer Currie, Michaela Cody, Carly Hoffman, Devan Jones, Mary Street and Alexandra Siavelis.

LOOKING AHEAD:
Following four straight home matches, the Leathernecks will play their final three on the road against South Dakota (Oct. 20), Denver (Oct. 22) and Omaha (Oct. 26).
