WIU Travels To Bradley For In-State Matchup

Western Illinois looks to continue its four-match win streak against the Braves.

MACOMB, Ill. – The Fighting Leatherneck men's soccer makes an in-state trip to Peoria, Ill. to take on the Bradley Braves Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. Western Illinois also plays its second consecutive match live on ESPN3.

A LOOK AT YOUR LEATHERNECKS:
Western Illinois (3-3-1) is currently riding a three-match win streak, after wins over Bowling Green (Sept. 10/home opener), Mount Mercy (Sept. 13) and Kansas City (Sept. 17). Jacob Bevan, who was most recently named Summit League 'Offensive Player of the Week', leads the team with five goals and two assists. He also tops the Summit League in points (12) and goals (5) this season. He is coming off a career-best hat trick against UMKC, where the Leathernecks won 4-1.

Fernando Pacheco (nine points) and Daniel Collins (seven points) have also contributed to the Leathernecks' offensive attack. Pacheco has three goals and three assists, while Collins has two goals and three assists. In net, goalkeeper Tim Hansen is coming off a career-high eight saves against UMKC. He leads the Summit League with a .846 save percentage, is tied for first in goals against (four) this season.

SCOUTING THE BRAVES: 
Bradley sits at 1-5-1 overall. The Braves have a win over Fairleigh Dickinson (1-0) and tied with Gonzaga (1-1). They have losses to San Diego State (1-0), No.16 Utah Valley (1-0), Fort Wayne (4-3), Portland (3-0) and Evansville (2-0).

At the helm of the Braves' program is Jim DeRose, who has been with the program for 18 seasons. They are led by Jacob Taylor and Matt Perry who each have three points this season. Each player has a goal and an assist this season. 

SERIES HISTORY: 
Western Illinois and Bradley have a competitive series history. The Leathernecks hold a 16-15-1 edge over the Braves in the all-time series. The last meeting was Oct. 5 of last season, where WIU won 1-0 at John MacKenzie Alumni Field.

LOOKING AHEAD: 
Western Illinois opens Summit League play at IUPUI Friday, Sept. 23. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Indianapolis, Ind.
