Western Illinois Wraps Up Regular Season Against Fort Wayne

This Saturday marks Senior Day for WIU.

MACOMB, Ill. – The Western Illinois men's soccer team caps off the 2016 regular season this Saturday (Nov. 5) at 11 a.m. against Fort Wayne.

The match will also be a deciding factor for either Western Illinois or Fort Wayne potentially clinching a spot in The Summit League Championships.

A LOOK AT YOUR LEATHERNECKS:
Western Illinois is currently 7-9-1 overall with a 2-3 mark in Summit League action. WIU is coming off a Nov. 1 2-1 non-league win over Drake on the road. In the league standings, WIU is in a four-way tie for third place with Fort Wayne, Oral Roberts and Eastern Illinois. All four programs have six points, behind second-place Omaha (13 points) and first-place Denver (16 points).

Against those teams, the Leathernecks have a 4-0 win over Oral Roberts and a loss to Eastern Illinois (0-2).

Senior Jacob Bevan sits tied for first in The Summit League in goals with eight and ranks third in the league for points (19). Fernando Pacheco is second on the team with 12 points, followed by Daniel Collins with 11.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS:
Fort Wayne is coming off a 3-2 double-overtime win over IUPUI on Oct. 29. The Mastodons also have a win over Oral Roberts (3-1), with losses to Denver (3-4), Omaha (0-1) and Eastern Illinois (0-1).

Oscar Uyamadu leads the team with 17 points on seven goals and three assists. Jacob Murphy follows with seven goals and one assist (16 points), and Zach Tom has five goals and two assists (12 points).

Mike Harper leads the Mastodons in his ninth season as head coach of the program.

SERIES HISTORY:
Western Illinois leads the all-time series 9-3-2 over Fort Wayne. In the last meeting, Western Illinois fell 2-1 on the road Oct. 13, 2015.

SENIOR DAY:
This Saturday also features Senior Day for Jacob Bevan, Ephraim Okeke, Daniel Collins, Nick Arnold and Maclean Johnson. Following the match, the five seniors will be honored and fans are encouraged to show their appreciation for the student-athletes.
