WIU Plays Host To Oral Roberts In Summit League Contest

The men's soccer team faces the Golden Eagles Saturday

MACOMB, Ill. – The Western Illinois men's soccer team plays host to Oral Roberts Saturday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. for their second Summit League match of the season. The match will take place at John MacKenzie Alumni Field, and will be streamed through Fighting Leatherneck All-Access.

A LOOK AT THE LEATHERNECKS:
Western Illinois currently sits at 5-5-1 overall with a 1-0 mark in Summit League action. The Leathernecks most recently fell to Milwaukee 2-0, giving them their first home loss of the season. The Purple and Gold are also currently second in The Summit League standings behind Denver. 

Senior Jacob Bevan leads The Summit League with seven goals and is tied for first with 16 points this season. He also ranks first on the team in shots with 23. Fernando Pacheco ranks second on the team with nine points this season, coming off three goals and three assists. Daniel Collins has seven points on two goals and three assists.

In net, freshman goalkeeper Tim Hansen tops The Summit League in save percentage (.778) and is second in the league in goals allowed (8).

SCOUNTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES:
Oral Roberts is 5-5-1 overall and 1-1 in league play. The Golden Eagles, who rank fifth in the league standings, most recently defeated Central Arkansas 3-2 on Tuesday, Oct. 4. In Summit League action, Oral Roberts has a win over Eastern Illinois (3-2) and a loss to Fort Wayne (3-1).

The Golden Eages are led by junior Santiago Riveros, who is tied for first in The Summit League in points (16). He tops the league with six assists this season, and is second in shots (35). The Golden Eagles are led by head coach Ryan Bush, who took over prior to the 2013 season after coaching the women's team for five seasons. 

SERIES HISTORY:
Western Illinois leads the all-time series 14-9-2. The previous meeting between the two programs took place last season, when the Leathernecks fell 3-2 on the road.

HOMECOMING/PICK THE MINUTE FAN CONTEST: 
This Saturday marks homecoming for the men's soccer team. It will also feature the "Pick the Minute Fan Contest," which involves predicting the minute that the Leathernecks will score their first goal. Prizes include an autographed poster and ball from the team.
