Western Illinois Closes Non-League Schedule At Drake

WIU travels to Des Moines, Iowa to face the Bulldogs.

MACOMB, Ill. – Western Illinois travels to Des Moines, Iowa for a non-league matchup against Drake for its second-to-last regular season match Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.

A LOOK AT YOUR LEATHERNECKS:
The Leathernecks are 2-3 in Summit League action with a 6-9-1 overall record. This will be the final non-league regular season match for WIU before returning home for Senior Day on Nov. 5.

In The Summit League standings, Western Illinois has six points this season and is tied with Fort Wayne, Oral Roberts, and Eastern Illinois for the fourth and final spot for the league tournament. All four teams have a 2-3 league record. In their most recent match, the Leathernecks fell 2-0 on the road at Eastern Illinois.

Jacob Bevan is tied for first in The Summit League with eight goals this season, and is third in the league in points (18). In net, Tim Hansen has four shutouts and 41 saves this season.

SCOUTING BULLDOGS: 
The Bulldogs are led by James Wypych who has 19 points this season on seven goals and five assists. Steven Enna follows with five goals and one assist (11 points).

Drake sits at 5-10-1 overall with a 2-5-1 Missouri Valley Conference record. They are led by head coach Gareth Smith, who is in his second season with the program.

SERIES HISTORY: 
Western Illinois trails the all-time series 7-17-2 against the Bulldogs. In their last meeting, WIU dropped a 1-0 contest at home on Oct. 13, 2015.
