WIU Women's Soccer Concludes Season With Senior Day

The Leathernecks play host to Oral Roberts this Sunday.

MACOMB, Ill. – The Fighting Leatherneck women's soccer team closes out the 2016 season with a home match this Sunday, Oct. 30, against Oral Roberts at 1 p.m. The match will also mark Senior Day for women's soccer student-athlete Brianna Hughes.

A LOOK AT YOUR LEATHERNECKS: 
Western Illinois is 4-10-2 overall with a 2-4-1 record against Summit League competition. The Leathernecks have wins over South Dakota (1-0) and Omaha (1-0), while falling to Denver (0-1), South Dakota State (0-2), North Dakota State (0-3) and IUPUI (0-2). They have also tied Fort Wayne 0-0.

Emily Bollman, Ashley Kuhlman and Bianca Romay all have four points each this season (two goals individually).

In net, Jennifer Currie has 40 saves with nine starts this season. She also has three recorded shutouts for 2016. As a team, the Leathernecks doubled their wins from a season ago.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES:  
Oral Roberts is 9-9-1 overall with a 4-3 record in Summit League action. Golden Eagles are on a four-match win streak after starting league play 0-3. They have wins over Fort Wayne (7-1), IUPUI (6-1) and Denver (1-0). Their three Summit League losses were to North Dakota State (0-1), Omaha (0-2) and South Dakota State (1-5).

Lexi Jones leads her team with 10 goals and one assist (21 points), followed by Chloe Basnett, Sierra Beall and Alexia Herrera—all with 10 points each this season.

Roger Bush leads the Golden Eagles in his fourth year as head coach.

SERIES HISTORY: 
This will be the 19th meeting between both programs. The series is tied 9-9-0 all time, with the Leathernecks coming away with a 3-2 win on the road in 2015. WIU is currently on a two-match win streak over the Golden Eagles. In the past five meetings, the matches have been decided by one goal.

SENIOR DAY:
This Sunday, forward Brianna Hughes will be honored for Senior Day at John MacKenzie Alumni Field. She is a native of Moline, Ill. with 24 career starts and logged 1,558 minutes of play with two goals.
