Western Illinois Takes On Eastern Illinois In Summit League Road Match

WIU travels to Charleston, Ill. on Saturday

MACOMB, Ill. – The Western Illinois men's soccer program travels to Charleston, Ill. Saturday (Oct. 29) at 1 p.m. for a Summit League match against Eastern Illinois.

A LOOK AT THE LEATHERNECKS:
The Leathernecks have a 2-2 mark in Summit League action and a 6-8-1 record overall. Western Illinois most recently fell 3-1 at Wisconsin last Tuesday, Oct. 25. In Summit League play, WIU has wins over IUPUI (2-0) and Oral Roberts (4-0), while falling to Denver (2-0) and Omaha (2-1).

Jacob Bevan leads the team with 18 points this season on eight goal and two assists. Fernando Pacheco is second on the team in points (12) with four goals and four assists. In net, Tim Hansen has 39 saves with a 6-6 overall record on 11 starts this season and four shutouts.

The Leathernecks sit in third place overall in The Summit League standings with six points behind Denver (15 points) and Omaha (12 points).

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS: 
Eastern Illinois is 4-9-1 overall with a 1-3 mark in Summit League play. The Panthers have a 1-0 win over Fort Wayne, with losses to Oral Roberts (3-2), Denver (1-0) and Omaha (2-0).

The Panthers have three players with four points this season: Alex Castaneda, Davis Wegmann and Julian Montoya. All three each have two goals this season. Director of Soccer Kiki Lara is in his second year with the program. For 2016, he oversees both the men's and women's teams. The Panthers are currently sixth in The Summit League standings with three points.

SERIES HISTORY: 
Western Illinois trails the all-time series 30-17-5. In their last meeting, the Leathernecks came away with a 6-0 win on Oct. 17, 2015 at John MacKenzie Alumni Field.
