Western Illinois Travels To Wisconsin

The men's soccer program hits the road to Madison, Wis. to face the Badgers.

MACOMB, Ill. – The Fighting Leatherneck men's soccer program travels to Madison, Wis. for a non-league matchup with the Wisconsin Badgers Tuesday, Oct.  25 at 7 p.m.

A LOOK AT YOUR LEATHERNECKS:
Western Illinois is coming off a 2-1 Summit League loss to Omaha at home Saturday, Oct.  22. The Leathernecks are 6-7-1 overall and 2-2-0 against league opponents. The match versus Wisconsin will be the 11th non-league match this season.

The Leathernecks are currently tied for third with Oral Roberts with six points this season in The Summit League standings, behind Denver (15 points) and Omaha (12 points). To see the full standings, click HERE.
Jacob Bevan is tied for first in The Summit League for goals (8) this season and ranks third in total points with 18.

SCOUTING THE BADGERS: 
Wisconsin is currently 8-3-3 this season with a 3-2-2 record against Big 10 opponents. In conference play, the Badgers have wins over Michigan (2-1 2OT), Northwestern (2-1) and Rutgers (1-0). They have losses to Penn State (2-1) and Maryland (3-2), and draws with Michigan State (1-1) and Indiana (0-0).

The Badgers and Western Illinois have two common opponents this season: Green Bay and Milwaukee. WIU defeated Green Bay 1-0, while the Badgers won their matchup 3-0. Wisconsin also defeated Milwaukee 3-0, while the Leathernecks fell 2-0 on Oct. 4.

Christopher Mueller leads the Badgers with five goals and seven assists this season (17 points), followed by Mark Segbers with nine points off three goals and three assists. The Badgers are led by head coach John Trask, who is in his seventh season with the program.

SERIES HISTORY: 
The Leathernecks trail the all-time series 4-8-2. The last meeting between the two came on Oct. 15, 2013, where the Leathernecks fell 0-1.
