Leathernecks Set For Home Match Against Omaha

Western Illinois takes on Omaha Saturday at 1 p.m.

MACOMB, Ill. – The Western Illinois men's soccer program plays host to Omaha Saturday, Oct. 22 at John MacKenzie Alumni Field. This will be the second-to-last home match for the Leathernecks of the 2016 regular season.

A LOOK AT THE LEATHERNECKS:
Western Illinois (6-6-1, 2-3) currently sits in a tie for third (along with Oral Roberts) in The Summit League standings with six points this season. The Leathernecks have Summit League wins over IUPUI (2-0) and Oral Roberts (4-0) with their lone loss at Denver (2-0) last weekend (Oct. 15).

Jacob Bevan currently ranks second in The Summit League in goals this season with seven and third in points with 16. Goalkeeper Tim Hansen ranks first in save percentage (.773) and is also second in goals against (10) and goals-against average (1.02).

Fernando Pacheco has 11 points with season with four goals and three assists, while Daniel Collins has two goals and a team-high five assists this season.

SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS: 
Omaha is 7-4-3 this season and undefeated against Summit League opponents (3-0). In the league, the Mavericks have victories over IUPUI (3-1), Eastern Illinois (2-0) and Fort Wayne (1-0). The Mavericks are currently second in The Summit League standings.

Most recently, Omaha defeated Bradley (4-0) on the road. Fazlo Alihodzic leads the league in goals (eight) and points (21). Emmanuel Hamzat follows with 10 points off five goals.

Omaha is led by head coach Jason Mims, who is in his sixth year with the program.

SERIES HISTORY: 
Western Illinois leads the all-time series 2-1-1. In the last meeting, the Leathernecks came away with a 2-1 victory on the road.

KIDS DAY: 
On Saturday, Oct. 22, local youth soccer players who wear their jerseys to the game will be invited on the field for a human tunnel and introductions with the players. There will also be face painting and FREE Rocky masks available during the first half.
