Leathernecks Face Fort Wayne, IUPUI In Weekend Road Matches

Western Illinois travels for a pair of Summit League road matches this weekend.

MACOMB, Ill. - The Western Illinois women's soccer program is set for a weekend slate of road matches on Friday, (Oct. 21) and Sunday (Oct. 23) at Fort Wayne and IUPUI.

A LOOK AT YOUR LEATHERNECKS: 
The Leathernecks currently sit at 4-9-1 overall with a 2-3 record in Summit League action. Western Illinois is recently coming off a 1-0 win over Omaha last Saturday, Oct. 16 at home.

Western Illinois currently has six points this season and are tied for fifth in the league standings, along with Oral Roberts and South Dakota. Omaha currently sits in fourth with seven points (2-2-1). To view The Summit League standings, click HERE.

Emily Bollman, Ashley Kuhlmann and Bianca Romay all have four points this season and two goals each. In goal, Jennifer Currie has seven starts in eight matches with a 1.33 goals allowed average and 27 saves. She also has two shutouts this season.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS:
Fort Wayne is currently  3-11-1 overall with an 0-3-1 mark in Summit League matches. The Mastodons tied IUPUI 2-2, and fell at South Dakota State (1-0), Omaha (4-1) and Oral Roberts (7-1).

Kallianne Mogler leads Fort Wayne with 10 points this season on four goals and two assists. In goal, Kiley Dunning leads The Summit League with 90 saves this season. Jason Burr is currently in his third season at the helm of the Fort Wayne women's soccer program.

SCOUTING THE JAGUARS:  
IUPUI is 7-6-3 overall and 1-2-2 in The Summit League. The Jaguars have a win over South Dakota (2-0) and losses to Denver (2-1) and Oral Roberts (6-1). Both ties happened against Fort Wayne (2-2) and Omaha (1-1).

Catherine Raster and Tori Minnich both have a team-high 16 points with seven goals and two assists each. Raster also leads The Summit League with 53 shots this season. Maryna Clark leads the league in assists with eight. Chris Johnson is in his 11th season as the head coach of the IUPUI women's soccer program.  

SERIES HISTORY: 
Western Illinois leads the all-time series 7-4-1 over Fort Wayne. The last meeting between the two resulted in a 1-0 Mastodon win at John MacKenzie Alumni Field. Both WIU and IUPUI are tied 9-9-0 in the all-time series. In the past four years, both teams have two wins each. Western won two straight over the Jaguars in the 2012 and 2013 seasons, followed by a pair of wins by IUPUI in the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
