Women's Soccer Plays Host to Green Bay as Part of Sunday Doubleheader

The Fighting Leathernecks welcome Green Bay to Macomb for a noon start.

MACOMB, Ill. - Fighting Leatherneck women's soccer plays their second of three consecutive home matches on Sunday (Sept. 21). Western Illinois welcomes Green Bay to John MacKenzie Alumni Field for a noon start. The Western Illinois men's soccer team will then take the field following the conclusion of women's match.

MATCH NOTES:
A LOOK AT THE PHOENIX: Before Sunday's match, Green Bay will stop in DeKalb, Ill. on Friday (Sept. 19) to face Northern Illinois... Heidi Hartmann has scored seven goals through eight matches this season... Hartmann currently ranks 16th in the nation in goals per game and seventh in total goals scored... Alex Zettler has added three goals and two assists on the year while Hannah Kernen has scored two goals and assisted on another... In net, Nastacia Behle has allowed seven goals in 675 minutes... Her 0.93 goals against average ranks 115th in the nation... Kacey Burke is in her first year as the head coach of the Phoenix... Burke is a former NCAA All-American at North Carolina and a member of the U.S. National Team. 

SERIES HISTORY: Sunday marks the tenth meeting between the Leathernecks and Phoenix... The two schools met every year from 2000 to 2004, with Green Bay winning three of the five matchups... Since then, Western and Green Bay have split the next four, with the Leathernecks grabbing victories in 2007 (3-0) and 2011 (1-0)... Last season, the Leathernecks traveled to Green Bay and lost 3-1.

LAST TIME OUT: Western Illinois went on the road to face former conference foe Kansas City... The Leathernecks fell behind early and were unable come back, ultimately falling 3-0... The team was back in action two days later, playing host to the Drake Bulldogs... Sarah Wright nearly put Western in front just minutes in, but her curled effort hit the crossbar keeping the match scoreless... The Bulldogs scored once in each half to come away with a 2-0 victory in Macomb.
