Leatherneck Women Lose at Southeast Missouri


CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.Western Illinois dropped a 7-0 decision at Southeast Missouri on Tuesday afternoon (March 11). It was the second of four matches for the women (0-9 overall) on their Spring Break trip.

Jenna Wallace challenged Valeriia Kashina in the number one singles, but dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision. Nicole Jones and Ese Davis took two games in the opening set of their match at number two and five singles, respectively, before falling in straight sets.

Jamee Hale pushed Katy Brady in her first set at the number six singles, but dropped a 7-6 decision and eventually lost in straight sets.

SEMO (6-5) swept the number two and three doubles match, and Wallace/Jones match at number one doubles went unfinished.

The Leathernecks continue their spring break trip on Thursday (March 13) at Wright State as part of a doubleheader with the men's team.
