MACOMB, Ill. - Senior captain and goalkeeper Andy Ryan (Rolling Meadows, Ill./Rolling Meadows) was named SoccerSavings.com/Chicagoland Soccer News 'Men's College Player of the Week' for his performance last weekend.
The Soccer News Net College Player of the Week Awards are selected by the editors of Soccer News Net's six regional news web sites and are sponsored by SoccerSavings.com.
This past weekend, Ryan helped the Fighting Leathernecks to back-to-back shutout victories. First, a 3-0 win over in-state rival Eastern Illinois on Friday (Sept. 30), followed by a 1-0 victory over Valparaiso on Sunday (Oct. 2).
In Friday's match, Ryan finished with three saves, and in Sunday's contest the keeper stopped 11 Crusader shots.
The three-time Summit League 'Defensive Player of the Week' leads the conference in goals against average (0.78), save percentage (.864), saves (51), wins (6), and shutouts (5).
Ryan has also worked his way up into the top-50 in four national categories, including: 13th in save percentage (.864), T-13th in saves (51), T-28th in saves per game (5.10), and 40th in goal against average (.783).
