Western Illinois women's
basketball team will continue its three-game road swing with a matchup against Milwaukee at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Klotsche Center.

Last Time Out Against Milwaukee: The last meeting between the two teams came on Dec. 10, 1996 when the Panthers came away with an 86-66 win in Macomb... the Leathernecks and Panthers have met six times... the series is tied at 3-3... neither team has won two straight in the series... Scouting The Panthers: Milwaukee enters the weekend after two games at the Subway Classic in Minneapolis... the Panthers lost to Minnesota by a 76-53 score on Saturday before defeating South Dakota 58-53 on Sunday... Milwaukee features three players who average double-digit point totals in Courtney Lindfors (15.8 ppg), Lindsay Laur (14.8) and Angela Rodriguez (13.0)... Laur scored a game-high 24 against South Dakota and also led the Panthers with 14 against Minnesota.
Previously at No. 9 Oklahoma: Oklahoma jumped out to a 15-0 lead in the first half en route to an 84-43 victory last Friday... the Sooners shot 51.4% in the first half while holding the Leathernecks to just 27.5% during the game... Western Illinois was led by Erica Lewis, who scored a season-high 13 points and was a perfect 9-for-9 from the foul line... as a team, the Leathernecks shot 88.2% (15-for-17) from the charity stripe... Anne Borgertpoepping grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds in the game.
Previously at Kansas State: Western Illinois trailed by as many as 24 points in the second half before going on a 21-6 run to get within nine points in a 63-53 loss at Kansas State on Sunday... Michele Salvatori scored a career-high 14 points while Borgertpoepping grabbed six rebounds... Salvatori scored 12 of her points in the second half... the Leathernecks shot 45.2% (14-for-31) in the second frame and out-rebounded the Wildcats 38-37 over the course of the game... Western forced 19 turnovers which it converted into 25 points.
Leathernecks Picked Seventh in Summit League: Western Illinois was picked seventh in the 2010-11 Summit League preseason poll... the Leathernecks return six players from last year's squad... Western tied Southern Utah for seventh place with 162 points in the poll... Oral Roberts was picked first with 438 points and 26 first place votes... South Dakota State was selected second with 393 points and four first place votes... Oakland (336 points), IPFW (285) and North Dakota State (274) rounded out the top five... UMKC was picked sixth with 253 votes... IUPUI and Centenary were selected ninth and tenth, respectively.
Record Watch: Steals: Anne Borgertpoepping finished last season with 64 steals... Borgertpoepping has recorded 96 steals while at Western Illinois... she needs 41 more steals this season to move in to a tie for 9th place in program history for career-steals.
Borgertpoepping Hits the Boards: Anne Borgertpoepping had a tremendous weekend on the boards despite being one of the shorter players on the floor at times... the 5'7 senior grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds at No. 9 Oklahoma and snagged six more at Kansas State... she recorded eight rebounds in the first half against the Sooners... Borgertpoepping currently leads the team with 5.3 rebounds per game.
Salvatori Shines: Michele Salvatori had a career-day against Kansas State on Sunday... the sophomore netted a career-high 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting... 12 of her points came in the second half as Western Illinois nearly erased a 24-point deficit before falling 63-53 to the Wildcats... the Leathernecks out-scored Kansas State 37-32 in the second half.
Second-Half Surge: Western Illinois used an impressive second-half surge to almost overcome a 24-point deficit at Kansas State... the Leathernecks shot just 26.9% (7-for-26) in the first half before posting a 45.2% field-goal percentage (14-for-31) in the second half... Western Illinois used a 21-6 run midway through the second half to draw within nine points before eventually falling to the Wildcats.
Up Next: The Leathernecks will open Summit League play with games against Oral Roberts (Dec. 2) and Centenary (Dec. 4) before playing three-straight non-league games at home...
