MACOMB, Ill. – The
Western Illinois men's soccer team will step out of Summit League match
when it travels to Valparaiso in a non-league match at 7 p.m. on
Wednesday, Oct. 6
The Fighting
Leathernecks (2-5-3, 0-1-1 Summit) are coming off a 1-1 draw against
Summit League foe Centenary on Saturday. Western dropped a 3-2 decision
to Drake on Sept. 28 in its last non-league match.
The Crusaders
(6-3-1, 1-3-0 Horizon) enter Wednesday's contest on a two-match losing
streak after dropping consecutive 1-0 decisions to Loyola and then No.
14 Butler. Valparaiso began the season on a six-match unbeaten streak
before dropping three of its last four matches.

Spreading the Wealth
Western
Illinois has seen eight different players score a goal so far this
season. The Leathernecks have tallied ten goals on the year. Nathan Bruinsma and Husref Jupic have each netted two goals.
The Leathernecks have also
picked up nine assists as a team this year. Jupic, Charlie Bales and
Daniel Lewis have each tallied two assists.
Defending the Crown
Western will return to Summit League action against IPFW in its next outing on Oct. 9. The Leathernecks will
look to defend their 2009 Summit League Tournament Title, their fourth title since 2004.
No
other team in league history has won four league tournaments
since The Summit League began hosting a conference tournament in 1994.
