INDIANAPOLIS- Despite outshooting IUPUI 27-12, the Western Illinois women's soccer team fell to the Jaguars, 4-2, in Summit League action at Kuntz Stadium.

"When you take 15 more shots than the other team, you usually think that you would win the game," said Western Illinois head coach Tony Guinn. "IUPUI only took six shots on goal but made them count by scoring on four of them."

The Jaguars (9-6-0, 5-1-0 Summit League) scored twice in the first ten minutes of the game to put the Westerwinds (5-8-2, 1-4-0) in an early hole. The first goal came in the fourth minute of the game when Megan Hock beat Western goalkeeper Meghan Tyk to the far post. Katrina McCrory made the score 2-0 when she capitalized off of a penalty kick in the seventh minute of the game.

The Westerwinds climbed to within one when senior Katelyn Wisner gathered a loose ball on a corner kick and found the back of the net for her second goal of the season. It was Wisner's first goal since returning from an injury suffered against Northern Illinois. Sophomore Jennifer Green picked up an assist on the play

McCrory scored her second goal of the game to start the second half in the 56th minute off of a corner kick taken by Lauren Gallets. It was McCrory's sixth goal of the season.

Western answered with a goal off of a corner kick of its own in the 66th minute. Green took the corner and was able to hook it into the goal for her second of the season.

55 seconds later, Alicia Brock was able to split the defenders and unloaded a shot from 12 yards out and past Tyk inside the left post.

"You can't give up four goals in a collegiate soccer game and expect to win," Guinn stated. "We have to figure something out on defense so that we can stay in games."

The Westerwinds return home for a pair of Summit League games next weekend. They'll square off against Centenary, Oct. 24, at 3 p.m. Oral Roberts comes to Macomb, Oct. 26, for a 1 p.m. match.
