CHICAGO - The Western Illinois volleyball team swept non-conference foe Chicago State 30-27, 30-18, 30-14, Friday night.
"Chicago State played solid defense, and forced us to make a lot of adjustments offensively," head coach Kym McKay said. "As you can tell by the game scores, we were able to make those adjustments successfuly."
Freshman
Elise Crnjak served seven consecutive points to open game three for the Westerwinds (5-10, 1-0 Mid-Continent Conference), stunting any hope the Cougars (0-17) had of a comeback.
"We wanted to go into game three aggressive after finishing game two with a lot of momentum," Mckay said. "Elise's performance at serve yielded great results for us in the final game."
McKay commended the offensive actions of sophomore
Monique Houston, and applauded the efforts of all 12 members of the team.
The Westerwinds return to conference action Saturday, when they face the IUPUI Jaguars in Indianapolis at 4 p.m.
