Mitch Ellis recorded nine hits during Western Illinois' recent Summit League series win at Omaha last weekend. Ellis, who was named The Summit League Player of the Week', has been chosen as the Hampton Inn Scholar-Athlete of the Week.

Ellis opened the Omaha series with a season-high four hits and season-high three runs scored. He added three hits and an RBI in game two, and helped Western clinch the series on Sunday with two hits, a run and RBI.

In the four games last week, Ellis batted 9-for-17 with four runs, three runs batted in, his first career triple, and two stolen bases.

He owns a 3.712 GPA majoring in General Studies.
