Tamaj Gordon

Tamaj Gordon brings a proven track record of success at the NCAA Division II level to Western Illinois Track and Field. In 2025, he was named a finalist for the USTFCCCA Indoor Women’s Coach of the Year and earned recognition as a finalist for Outdoor Coach of the Year for both the men’s and women’s programs.

He played a key role in elevating his previous program, guiding athletes to its first-ever NCAA Division II Indoor and Outdoor National Provisional Qualifying marks. His athletes reached provisional standards in events including the men’s 60m, 100m, high jump, and triple jump, as well as the women’s long jump, triple jump, and javelin.

Gordon also developed the program’s first NCAA Division II All-Region performer in the women’s triple jump in 2025 and coached a conference champion in the men’s high jump. His impact was especially evident in the jumps, where he built nationally ranked units, including a men’s triple jump group ranked No. 2 in the nation, along with top-10 marks in the long jump and high jump. On the women’s side, his athletes reached as high as No. 4 nationally in the triple jump, in addition to top-50 rankings in both the long jump and high jump.
