Western Illinois University Athletics

Originally from Istanbul, Turkey, Simay Memisoglu joined the Western Illinois University volleyball coaching staff in 2025 as a Graduate Assistant while pursuing her master’s degree in Sports Management.

Memisoglu began her volleyball career with Fenerbahçe Sports Club before continuing to play professionally in Turkey for Division I and Division II clubs. In 2021, she came to the United States to continue her academic and athletic career at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), where she earned her undergraduate degree in Sports Management.

During her time at IUP, Memisoglu competed as an outside hitter and right-side hitter and served as team captain for two seasons. She helped lead IUP to three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance during her junior season as a starting right-side hitter. During her senior season, she helped the team capture a conference championship. Academically, she was named a CSC Academic All-District honoree.
