Margaret Axelson joins the coaching staff as a graduate assistant, bringing extensive experience as a collegiate pitcher and a proven record of success both on the field and in the classroom.
A graduate of Wofford College, Margaret was a member of the program's inaugural softball team in 2024. Prior to Wofford, she spent one season at Birmingham-Southern College. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from Wofford and is currently pursuing her master's degree in Sports Management.
As a player, Margaret established herself as one of the top pitchers in the Southern Conference, finishing her collegiate career with a 2.65 ERA across 462 innings while recording 45 victories.
Margaret earned numerous conference and academic honors throughout her playing career. In 2026, she was named the Southern Conference Preseason Pitcher of the Year while also earning CSC Academic All-District and Southern Conference All-Academic Team honors. She was also recognized on the 2025-26 Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll.
Her 2025 season included First Team All-Southern Conference honors, CSC Academic All-District recognition, Southern Conference All-Academic Team honors and a Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week award. She was also named to the 2024-25 Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll.
In 2024, Margaret earned First Team All-Southern Conference honors, was named SoCon Pitcher of the Month for February and earned SoCon Pitcher of the Week honors on Feb. 21. She also earned CSC Academic All-District recognition and was named to the 2023-24 SoCon Academic Honor Roll.
Before her time at Wofford, Margaret was named the Southern Athletic Association's Newcomer of the Year and Pitcher of the Year in 2023.
As a graduate assistant, Margaret brings valuable experience from her collegiate playing career, along with a strong understanding of pitching, player development and the student-athlete experience. Her combination of on-field success and academic achievement provides a strong foundation as she begins her coaching career.
