Dr. Cameron Caldwell-Conner joined WIU athletics as the Associate Athletics Director of External Operations on September 16th, 2026. As the Associate Athletic Director for External Operations, Dr. Caldwell-Conner is the Chief Fundraising Officer for the athletic department, while overseeing athletic communications, marketing, tickets, and corporate sponsorship. Dr. Caldwell-Conner is also the sports adminstrator for Men's/Women's Golf, Tennis, Men's Soccer, Track and Cross Country, and Bowling,.
Dr. Caldwell-Conner arrived in Macomb after serving as the Director of Athletic Marketing and Fan Engagement at the University of Southern Indiana, where he successfully increased fan attendance across multiple sports, while leading the department to rank first in men's basketball attendance in the Ohio Valley Conference. He also oversaw community outreach, athletic licensing, and branding, while serving on the university's Strategic Communication senior leadership team.
Before USI, Dr. Caldwell-Conner held leadership roles at McKendree University, where he served as Director of Game Day Operations and Events, overseeing 36 athletic programs and driving significant growth in ticket sales and fan attendance. Dr. Caldwell-Conner also worked as an Athletic Director at Sumner High School, where he administered all aspects of the athletic program. His career in athletics has also included roles at Missouri Baptist University, Washington University in St. Louis, St. Louis University, and the St. Louis Cardinals.
 Dr. Caldwell-Conner is an active member of professional organizations including Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA), and the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA). He is an committee member for both MOAA and NACMA. Serving on the Creative Service Committee for MOAA and the Research and Resources Committee for NACMA. Dr. Caldwell-Conner is also a 2023 D2 Governance Academy participant, a 2024 Senior Administrators Mentoring Institute participant, and a 2025 MOAA Rising Star Graduate.
Dr. Caldwell-Conner's educational background includes a B.A. in Mass Communication with a Minor in Sports Information from Lindenwood University–Belleville, an M.Ed. in College Student Personnel Administration from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, a Master of Science in Sports Management from Missouri Baptist University, and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in College Access, Career Readiness, and Student Support Services in Higher Education from the University of Missouri–St. Louis.
