Payton Hutchins enters his 3rd year as a manager for the Western Illinois Leatherneck Men’s basketball program. Payton has been instrumental in the success of the program during his time in Macomb. His duties include: setting up for practice, meetings, meals, working with staff and players in practice, equipment on the road and many other tasks to enhance the program.

Payton said that being a manager has really opened his eyes to the college basketball world and has learned a lot and thinks there may be an opportunity for him in college basketball. “It would be a smooth transition going from a manager to a GA  because I’ve seen how it all works and I’ve loved everything about it.”

Payton is a senior this year majoring in sports broadcasting while minoring in business. Payton plans to go to grad school next fall and complete his masters degree in sports management while pursuing a GA position with a men’s basketball program.
