Biography

SENIOR (2011): Voted team captain... played and started in all 11 games... 31 solo and 31 assisted tackles... one interception and two pass breakups... recorded six tackles in the season-opener at Sam Houston State... made five tackles against Jacksonville and picked up his fifth career interception (first since freshman year)... made three tackles and nearly picked off a pass at Missouri... five tackles at Northern Iowa... those tackles at UNI moved him past 100 in his career... finished with seven tackles in the win over Southern Illinois, including a shared TFL... second on the team with six tackles at Indiana State... recorded six tackles against Missouri State... career-high 10 tackles at Youngstown State... made six tackles at Illinois State... registered two tackles against South Dakota State... ended career with six tackles against North Dakota State... ends career with 147 tackles in 39 career games played... received the program's Red Miller Award following the season.

JUNIOR (2010): Made four tackles, including one for a loss, in the win over Valparaiso... assisted tackle at Purdue... season-high six tackles against Sam Houston State... shared on three tackles in the Indiana State victory... made two tackles in the win at North Dakota State... recorded five tackles, including one for a two-yard loss, at South Dakota State... returned to action at Southern Illinois following an injury that forced him to miss three games... earned the start against Northern Iowa and finished with seven tackles, including five solos... made the start against Coastal Carolina... did not play at Appalachian State due to an injury.

SOPHOMORE (2009): Played in eight games and started the first six contests... twice recorded a season-high nine tackles - against Stephen F. Austin (1.5 tackle for loss) and Missouri State... five tackles in consecutive games against Southern Illinois and Youngstown State... made four stops at Northern Illinois... had two tackles in the season-opener at Sam Houston State... finished with 34 tackles and 2.0 tackles for a loss.

FRESHMAN (2008): Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Newcomer team... ranked second in the league with four interceptions... also recorded a tackle for loss and a pass breakup... totaled 22 tackles... earned five starts in 11 games as a true freshman... intercepted two passes in a win over Stephen F. Austin... returned an interception 45 yards against Indiana State... the only freshman among the league leaders in passes defended (16th) and the only freshman among the league interception leaders... ranks 42nd nationally in interceptions per game while his four picks were tied for fifth among the country's freshmen... one of just four true freshmen to earn a letter.

HIGH SCHOOL: Earned All-Conference honors as a junior defensive back... named to All-Conference, All-Area and All-State teams as a senior running back... named one of the top three running backs in Illinois by the Chicago Tribune... ran for 1,782 yards and 33 touchdowns in 2007... amassed 51 touchdowns in two seasons, including 42 as a senior... set a record in the class 4A state title game with five rushing touchdowns... rushed for more than 3,000 yards and averaged 10 yards per carry throughout his career... helped Driscoll Catholic to three consecutive state titles... named the Suburban Catholic Conference's Co-Offensive Player of the Year... lettered four years in football and two years in both basketball and track... earned Honor Roll status throughout his high school career.

PERSONAL: Born Jan. 10, 1990... his father has been a major influence, "Being a coach he knows everything about the game and instilled the importance of hard work to me at a young age."... had two older brothers play college football, one at Georgetown and another at Saint Xavier University... enjoys working out and watching movies... favorite music group is Led Zepplin... son of Tim and Patty Franken.
