Biography

JUNIOR (2016): Played in all 11 games... caught eight passes for 192 yards... made four tackles on special teams... played at Eastern Illinois and versus Northern Arizona... tackle on special teams at Northern Illinois... made his first catch of the season versus Indiana State, going for 27 yards... had a key 28-yard reception on 4th-and-10 to extend what would be Western’s game-winning touchdown drive at South Dakota... caught two passes for 30 yards against Illinois State, including a 27-yard catch... caught two passes for 90 yards, including a career-long 52-yarder, at Southern Illinois.
CAREER-HIGH RECEPTIONS: 2 on six occasions

SOPHOMORE (2015): Played in all 13 games, started six times... finished with 12 catches for 168 ayrds and two touchdowns... caught a 6-yard pass against Eastern Illinois... started at Illinois and finished with a 23-yard catch... two receptions at Coastal Carolina for nine yards... started against Southern Illinois... two catches versus South Dakota for 53 yards, including his first collegiate touchdown reception (42 yards)... made a 14-yard catch at UNI... 18-yard reception at Illinois State... played against Youngstown State... caught two passes for 13 yards at North Dakota State... played at Indiana State and vs. South Dakota State... played at Dayton in the playoffs... 26-yard touchdown at Illinois State in the playoffs, finishing with two receptions for 32 yards.

FRESHMAN (2014): Played in eight games as a true-freshman... caught a 4-yard pass in his first collegiate game at Northwestern... returned three kickoffs for 25 yards, all coming during the South Dakota State game... returned three punts for four yards.

HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered in football, basketball and track/field… earned All-State honors in football at three different positions in three different years… earned All-State honors in basketball, joining his school’s 1,000-point club… five times earned All-State honors in track/field between the hurdles, 4x400, 4x200 and 4x100 relays… scored 65 touchdowns his senior year and 139 in his career… eight of those TDs came in a game versus the No. 3-ranked team in state… totaled 10,208 yards all-time (receiving, passing, rushing and returns… team won four district titles and three conference titles… helped the basketball team win a district and conference title… three-time district and conference champion in track… state champion in the 110 meter hurdles his senior year... played for coach Darin Acklin. 

PERSONAL: Born August 10, 1995 in Springfield, Missouri… No. 1 sports highlight was scoring 46 points with two dunks the night his mom underwent breast cancer surgery, “It’s the only game she has ever missed.”… his parents have been a major influence, “They have taught me to live up to my potential and to never take anything for granted.”… most admires his dad as a coach, “He has always been there for me and played a big role in guiding my way through life and my athletic career.”… most admires Clint Dempsey, "He's an American hero."... his dad played football at Carthage, his uncle played football at Missouri and another relative played football at Avila… enjoys playing X-Box, especially FIFA… favorite professional team is the U.S. Men's Soccer team… favorite music group is The Cranberries… son of Darin and Tina Acklin.
