Jon Minnis was named Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance in January of 2023. Minnis assumes the role after serving as Director of Strength and Conditioning.
Minnis previously served as Director of Strength and Conditioning a position he moved into in March of 2020.
Minnis is a Western Illinois alum and former strength and conditioing graduate assistant.
Minnis spent two seasons at Western Illinois before joining the Weber State staff in July 2019. There, he was responsible for strength and conditioning programming for the women's basketball and softball teams, while also assisting with football.Â
Before Weber, he was at Bryant, in charge of programming for volleyball, softball, swim and dive, and track and field.Â
Minnis also owned the Tri-State Strength and Performance Training Center, where he trained high school, collegiate and professional athletes as the head of athletic performance.Â

He is a veteran of the United States Navy who served in Operation Enduring Freedom and Global War on Terrorism, and his military career included search and rescue missions and security operations in the Middle East and Africa.

A native of Morning Sun, Iowa, Minnis earned his bachelor's degree in recreation management from Culver-Stockton College, before receiving a master's degree in kinesiology from Western Illinois. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
