DeMarkco Butler begins his first year as the Director of Football Operations for Leatherneck Football.
 
He oversees the daily office operations, assists with on-campus recruiting and serves as the liaison with other areas within the athletic department and university.
 
A 2016 graduate of Western Illinois with a master’s degree in Sport Management, Butler served as the Graduate Assistant for Facilities, Events and Gameday Operations for the Leathernecks. He assisted with the operations for all the Division I sport programs, manage and hire the gameday operations staff and liaison with the officials/referees and visiting team. Butler also oversaw the schedules and operations of the athletic facilities and coordinate meetings for operations staff for football and monthly facility meetings.
 
During his time as a graduate assistant, Butler also serves as an athletic academic services mentor for the football and baseball student-athletes.
 
He received the prestigious honor of attending the NCAA Emerging Leader workshop in January 2015. Butler also serves as the Alumni Chair of the WIU Sport Management Association.
 
Butler worked for two years as a Hospitality Manager at Buffalo Wild Wings.  Prior to starting his master’s degree, he worked for three years as the Director of Expansion for Phi Delta Theta general headquarters in Oxford, Ohio. He was in charge of new business development, supervision of professional staff and cultivating prospect relationships.
 
Butler serves as a former board member of the Inner City Tennis Project and hospitality suite supervisor for the Western and Southern Financial Tennis Open.
 
He played four years of football and track and field at Monmouth College, serving as team captain for the Scots football program his senior year. Butler also was a founder and three-time team captain for the men’s volleyball club. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication with a minor in Business and Spanish from Monmouth in May 2010.
