Biography

SENIOR (2021): Second Team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference... started all 11 games as a team captain... second on the team in total tackles (97.0)... finished with 62 solo tackles and 35 assisted tackles... ranked 30th in the nation in total tackles... tied for the top spot in the FCS for forced fumbles (six)... was the only Leatherneck to return a turnover for a touchdown on multiple occasions... added four fumble recoveries and four interceptions... had 13 total tackles versus Southern Illinois (Oct. 2, 2021)... grabbed two interceptions at Montana (Sept. 11)... forced two fumbles in the season opener at Ball State (Sept. 2).

SENIOR (2020-21 / WESTERN): Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Newcomer Team … Missouri Valley Football Conference Honorable Mention ... started all six games … led team in total tackles (54) and solo tackles (40) … finished the season with 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack, a pass break up, and two interceptions … recorded 10-plus tackles against North Dakota (12), Illinois State (13), and Youngstown State (14) … returned a punt 36 yards for a touchdown against Youngstown State on his only punt return of the season; was named MVFC Defensive Player of the Week  … ranked third in the Valley and 31st in the nation in tackles per game (9.0) … ranked eighth in the nation in solo tackles per game (6.7)

JUNIOR (2019 / LAMAR): Two-time First-Team All-Southland Conference selection … garnered first-team all-conference honors as a defensive back and punt returner … played in 11 games earning 10 starts … led the team and finished 12th in the Southland with 94 total tackles … recorded 65 unassisted tackles … was credited with 8.5 tackles for losses, a forced fumble, one quarterback hurry and blocked a kick … also finished tied for the top spot in the Southland with five interceptions … recorded four double-figure tackle efforts … recorded 10 tackles, including one for a loss, and picked off two passes against nationally ranked Sam Houston State; his second interception sealed the victory in triple overtime … named SLC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts against SHSU … recorded a career-high 18 tackles, including 16 solo stops, and 2.0 for losses against Central Arkansas … had 15 tackles, including 11 solo stops, and one for a loss against Northwestern State … also forced a fumble and picked off a pass which he returned for a touchdown against the Demons … recorded 10 stops, including one for a loss, at Texas A&M … had six stops, including a career-high 2.5 for losses, against Houston Baptist … also broke up a pass and blocked a kick against the Huskies … recorded six tops, including one for a loss, picked off a pass he returned for 30 yards and recorded a QB hurry in the season opener … second interception of the season came in the overtime victory against Mississippi Valley State

CITY COLLEGE OF SAN FRANCISCO: recorded 36 tackles, including 25 solo stops during his sophomore season … also picked off a pass and had 3.5 tackles for losses during the 2017 season … closed out his junior college career with 89 total tackles – including 67 solo stops – and eight tackles for losses …  forced two fumbles and recovered a third … picked off five passes and broke up nine others

HIGH SCHOOL: 2015 All-Sac-Joaquin Section pick … was a first-team selection as an athlete … recorded 31 touchdowns as a senior … guided Patterson HS to an 11-1 (.917) overall record and a district title with a perfect 6-0 mark as a senior … hauled in 39 passes for 911 yards and 11 touchdowns during his two seasons on varsity … also carried the ball 190 times for 1,848 yards (9.7 ypc) with 23 touchdowns … recorded seven 100-yard rushing performances … also a standout on the basketball court


PERSONAL: Born August 9… son of Ebony and Michael Lawson … chose Western because they “have a great history of winning and a strong culture” … hobbies include paintball, basketball and reading
